Who we are 

Nikolaus Reisky, Matthäus Mayr-Melnhof and Friedrich Mayr-Melnhof founded Araucania Power S.A. in 2012 with the aim of planning, constructing and operating their own renewable energy projects in Chile. All three come from families that have been operating in Europe and South America for generations. 

The basic project is to use established European technology and ecological know-how in the field of hydraulic engineering to construct advanced small hydropower plants in Chile. The company founders took two years after the foundation to acquire the necessary knowledge, to discuss with experts, to visit power plants and to visit various turbine manufacturers. During this time, the team also intensively dealt with the Chilean electricity market and possible locations for the first project.
